A new request has been filed.
Valve (upscaled)
While hundreds of people keep playtesting Valve's hero shooter Deadlock, the studio itself is pretending nothing is going on but has already filed for a trademark on this name.
As spotted by Gabe Follower, Valve wishes to call dibs on the title Deadlock under the categories of entertainment services, namely, providing online video games, and organization of competitions relating to video games. Considering we have yet to hear about the shooter from Valve itself, this move just shows its blatant disregard for mere gossip.
As noted by PC Gamer, this doesn't necessarily mean much because Valve filed a trademark application for Neon Prime in 2022, but it has not been registered. In fact, it is said Deadlock's old name was Neon Prime, Citadel, so basically there were two trademarks for one game.
Despite Valve keeping quiet about Deadlock, we know that the game exists from multiple gameplay leaks and even a Steam page.
Valve has the luxury of continuing its silence indefinitely and even shutting down the whole project whenever it wishes, so you'll have to be patient and wait for it to officially announce Deadlock to the world, whenever it might be.
If you want to know more about the game, I recommend checking out Gabe Follower, who said he'd stop posting about the title but was the first to spot the trademark file.
