Easily design and save biomes, whether procedurally generated or hand-painted, scatter custom 3D assets, and much more.

BiteTheBytes has been working on a major update to its terrain and landscape creation tool for some time, and it's finally here.
The brand-new Biome system in World Creator 2025.1 lets you create, save, and reuse detailed ecosystems with simulations across any project. You can sculpt everything from mountains and volcanoes to craters and deserts with full control, bring in real-world data, or quickly shape environments using stamping tools. Easily add rivers, lakes, and oceans, and refine with advanced editing tools and Wacom tablet support.

According to the release notes, the process is straightforward: create a biome, press edit, and start painting. "World Creator takes care of everything, including biome blending and ordering, fully automated and in real-time."
Another major change is the ability to import custom 3D models and place them onto the terrain, either manually or through procedural generation. Optionally, the terrain can automatically adjust its height to accommodate the model, flattening the area beneath it for a seamless fit. BiteTheBytes also offers a ready-made 3D asset pack, available to users with Professional, Studio, and Enterprise licenses.
World Creator's material system has been updated, now capable of combining "color, textures, Adobe Substance 3D materials, and gradients in one single material". It also now supports emissive materials and displacement textures.

There are numerous other updates, including a powerful denoiser that eliminates noise during real-time rendering, new image processing filters, and added support for LUTs.
BiteTheBytes has also changed World Creator's licensing options, introducing a time-limited Lifetime license. The Indie, Professional, and Enterprise licenses have been updated with new revenue caps, and a new Studio license tier has been added. Additionally, monthly rental plans have been completely discontinued.
