Xbox Introduced Women-Led Mentorship Program

The program will support everyone who wants to pursue a career in the gaming industry connecting aspiring talent with leaders at the firm.

On the occasion of International Women's Day and Women's History Month, Xbox has introduced a new mentoring program aimed at bringing more women to the game industry. The program will offer support to everyone who wants to pursue a career in gaming providing aspiring talent with the opportunity to access one-on-one coaching sessions with key leaders across the world.

Currently, Xbox is offering mentoring in select markets such as the US, UK, France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Japan, and Korea. It is expected that more countries will be added to that list, more details will be revealed later this month.

"It is our hope that this program generates meaningful engagements with tangible and purposeful actions to help foster career development in the games industry," shared Rare executive producer Louise O'Connor. "With the program available in multiple markets kicking off this month, Xbox is opening up their world to inspire and support the next generation of women leaders in gaming."

Xbox also announced that at the upcoming GDC, it will host a panel of female tech leaders at Xbox Game Studios who will share their experiences and tell about their career journeys. The session will include Xbox studio manager Mary McGuane, The Coalition head of technology Kaye Rayner, former studio head for World’s Edge Shannon Loftis, Minecraft corporate VP Helen Chiang, senior director of Cloud Gaming at Xbox Game Studios Publishing Kim Swift, and 343 Industries head Bonnie Ross.
