Indie Game Developer AtomicLugia has recently granted many Nintendo fans their wish to explore the entirety of Wuhu Island, an iconic location featured in games like Wii Fit, Wii Sports Resort, Mario Kart 7, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, by releasing Wuhu Island Explorer, a free-to-play experience where you can walk, run, jump, swim and dive across the entire island without any restrictions
Based primarily on the Wii Sports Resort version of the island, AtomicLugia's walking simulator was made using Blender and Unity and boasts a crisp HD graphics quality. You play as one of eight playable Mii characters, with an option to toggle between the default outfit and swimwear, exploring both the main island and a smaller Wedge Island both on foot and via fast travel.
"This Wuhu Island is from Wii Sports Resort, however, I did some edits, such as fixing small errors, adding areas beneath the water, and so on," the developer notes. "I also added stuff from the Wii Fit Plus version of Wuhu Island, such as the updated light tower, castle, and some other stuff, to make it more complete."
