12M Units Sold: Mortal Kombat 11 is the Top-Selling Game of the Series

Mortal Kombat 11 is now officially the best-selling title of the franchise with over 12 million copies sold worldwide across all platforms, making the total sales of MK games surpass 73 million units.

Mortal Kombat 11 was released in 2019 and started off strong — in April 2019, it was the best-selling video game software in North America. All in all, it became the fifth best-selling game of 2019 and in just 1.5 years the title had sold over 8 million copies worldwide. This makes it even more successful than the previous game, the 2015 Mortal Kombat X, which was at 11 million units sold in April 2019.

Interestingly, not long ago NetherRealm Studios announced that the team would shift from supporting MK 11 to working on the next titles. 

The total sales of the franchise that started almost 30 years ago have reached 73 million copies. Moreover, Warner Bros. announced that Mortal Kombat Mobile has reached 138 million downloads worldwide.
