2K has removed its launcher from Epic and Steam games, along with the separate launcher 2K Launcher Beta from Sid Meier’s Civilization V.

The changes came into force on November 18. A week later, an update was sent via Steam to ensure that the launcher was fully removed. According to 2K, the launcher folder was replaced with a text file called 2kLauncherRemoved.txt. The file isn't needed, and you can delete it. 2K has prepared a guide on deleting the launcher files, which you can find on the announcement page.

BioShock, Civilization, and Mafia publisher stated that Bioshock Remastered, Bioshock 2 Remastered, Bioshock Infinite, The Quarry, and Marvel's Midnight Suns will launch directly into the game. As for Mafia Trilogy Definitive Edition, Civilization VI, Civilization V, XCOM 2, and XCOM: Chimera Squad, there are different algorithms for removing the launcher, which can also be found along with the announcement. Also, 2K has clarified solutions for several issues that players might face, such as why the Launcher might still be opening when launching the game on Steam.
