The game will probably be released for consoles only due to the process complexity.
343 Industries together with experiences modders is recreating the famous E3 2003 Halo 2 Demo to make it playable. The Earthcity demo amazed many back when it came out but the level was scripted and we didn't see the same quality in the final game.
Now, almost 20 years later, creators are working hard to make the demo a real level as part of the Digsite project, which is also bringing to life the pre-release content from the original Halo. Expect to see previously unseen assets, vehicles, NPCs, weapons, and even the Alphamoon campaign.
The process of recreation is no walk in the park, and the developers don't make any promises to bring it to consoles.
"We originally didn't have a lot of assets lying around for the map from previous analysis of leaked builds and the like. Just the source JMS files for the BSP and a few scenery objects. However, once the source map files turned up it was only a matter of time before we had all the data we needed."
There is no information on when to expect the Demo or the content from Halo: Master Chief Collection, but you can already learn more about the progress in this blog post.
