Created by Noah Li using Maya.
3D Animator Noah Li, also known as Keyojimbo, wows us for the second time this month with a new short animation showcasing a detailed guitar rig featuring vibrating strings.
The creator explains that the vibration is achieved using a 3-frame loop on an animation layer, with the layer's weight keyed to increase or decrease the vibration. For a touch of extra realism, Noah notes, you could also enhance the effect by adding a few bones to simulate motion blur during the string's vibration. Attached below is a breakdown image shared by the artist showing how the rig was set up in Autodesk Maya:
And here's one more sequence featuring the rig:
Earlier this month, Noah also blew us away with his Just the Hands project, a hand animation inspired by Patlabor 2, showing how a rig can transmit and evoke emotions. You can read the full breakdown by clicking this link.
