3D Artist Shows Difference Between WIP Project & Render In Funny Image

César Armijo doesn't send WIPs to clients anymore.

César Armijo

They say fools and bairns should never see half‐done work, and I'm inclined to agree, especially when it comes to art. Technical Artist César Armijo also thinks so and even has a funny image to help get the point across.

He published a post on Reddit called "Why I never send WIPs to my clients," explaining that he's had customers cancel the project because they see the viewport image and "think that's the way the final product is going to look."

So, he made a picture where he compares a nearly-bald dog in the viewport with the final, "furry" render to send those who worry too much.

The dog in question is originally a hologram made for a website, created with Blender and Houdini.

"The groom was created in Blender while the dots animation was done in Houdini. They were individually rendered and then composited together, using position, normal, and mist passes to create the effects of the hologram spheres lighting up."

You can find this and other projects on the artist's ArtStation.
