3D Scanned Teeth Turned Into a ZBrush Sculpt

Henning Sanden showed a neat way of creating extremely-realistic digital teeth.

For many people, visiting a dentist is a truly dreadful experience associated with nothing but awful pain and the blood-curdling sounds of dental drills. However, 3D Artist and Co-Founder of FlippedNormals Henning Sanden has recently shown that not every aspect of going to a dental professional is horrific, demonstrating how 3D Character Artists can use such a visit to push the realism of their projects to a whole new level.

Back in December, Henning shared a story about visiting a dentist, saying that, to his surprise, the doctors had 3D scanned his teeth to check them instead of x-raying them and then shared the resulting 3D scan as two STL files, which the artist put into ZBrush to produce a lifelike sculpt, attached above and below. So, if you were looking to create digital humans with ultra-realistic teeth, here's a neat method worth keeping in mind.
