2D Artist for Collaboration at TBD Games

Have you always wanted to be a fly on the wall in the room that you drew? Well then, we may have the perfect opportunity for you to achieve your dreams.

We are a small team building a fixed-scope small indie game that can be expanded if it is successful. You're a fly in a coffee shop causing chaos, going in people's heads, and changing the narrative outcome of the game. It's a sandbox/exploration game with light narrative elements.

We are inspired by shape and color as seen in Psychonauts, Angerfoot, Bugsnax, High on Life, Earthworm Jim, and The Neverhood. Think colorful characters (literally), exaggerated shapes, toony but not cartoon, simple textures.

The developer is looking for:

  • a reliable and efficient 2D stylized artist to handle the visual direction, character design, environment design/paint-overs, simple UI,
  • someone who has a process and can push the design,
  • who can devote a good chunk of time over the next 6 to 8 weeks, efficient with a process, providing rough silhouettes that get approved before sinking days into polished designs,
  • someone who puts little notes on their drawings instead of spending a ton of time drawing things that won't make it into the game. 

Senior Technical Artist at NeoBards Entertainment

You will develop art creation tools, optimize artists’ workflow, research Unreal Engine 5, Houdini features, and integrate them into the game development process. Based on art requirements, you'll make shaders, assist in optimizing the game performance, and solve all kinds of issues in the artists’ day-to-day work.

Required Skills:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience as a technical artist or graphics programmer, having game development experience is a plus
  • Experienced in Maya, Substance is a plus
  • Familiar with Unreal Engine shader/material, have experience in developing materials in-game
  • Familiar with Python or Maya scripting
  • Interest in procedural content generation, a proactive approach to acquiring new knowledge, and a willingness to share knowledge
  • Good at communication and coordination, and capable of documenting complex processes so that users can easily get started

VFX Artist at Frontier Developments

We’re looking for a talented VFX Artist to join our VFX team who will help bring our next generation of immersive experiences to life. This is a multi-faceted role that requires a strong grasp of VFX principles and a passion for creating stunning, believable effects that elevate gameplay and visual storytelling.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a VFX Artist or a strong portfolio demonstrating high-level VFX skills.
  • Deep understanding of VFX principles: gameplay, shape, timing, motion, contrast, colour, and composition.
  • Strong attention to detail and observational skills for creating authentic and dynamic effects.
  • Solid knowledge of real-time game engines and particle systems.
  • Ability to balance aesthetic and technical aspects of VFX.
  • Proactive and inquisitive approach to problem-solving.
  • Great communication and collaboration skills.
  • Awareness of memory and performance considerations in VFX creation.
  • Proficiency in Maya, Janga suite, Photoshop, and After Effects,
  • Houdini, or equivalent industry-standard software.
    Awareness of industry technology trends.

FX Artist at Techland

As an FX Artist, you will help to bring environments, weapons, and characters to life in our games. Using special effects, you will support gameplay and create complete immersion in a given scene.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in creating visual special effects for AAA games
  • Great creativity, artistic skills, and commitment, advanced knowledge of Adobe Photoshop,
  • Ability to create flipbook animations (EmberGen,3D Studio Max, Maya, Houdini),
  • Knowledge of issues related to particle effects,
  • Knowledge of VFX impact on game performance (VFX optimization)
  • Familiarity with industry trends and standards in video games,
  • Good knowledge of applications for liquid and pyro simulations (3ds Max with FumeFx/PhoenixFD, Maya with FumeFx, Realflow, Houdini),
  • Experience in cooperation with programmers to achieve the best visual effects,
  • Very good command of English.

Lead Environment Artist at Warner Bros. Games

NetherRealm Studios is on the lookout for a Lead Environment Artist to help create standout, next-level game worlds. You’ll work with the Art Director, Art Leads, and Tech Leads to set the look and feel for our environments, pushing both the art and tech boundaries. As Lead, you’ll guide a team of artists and collaborate with external partners to make sure everything we create hits our high standards. We're looking for someone who’s all about finding ways to make the game even better, values feedback, and loves working in a team to bring amazing, and sometimes brutal, ideas to life.

Essentials:

  • At least 4-5 years of video games development experience with significant involvement in 2 published AAA games, with at least one project at the Lead level or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to quickly prototype and iterate in collaboration with other departments.
  • Strong skills in environmental design, layout, composition, and storytelling.
  • Great sense of scale and proportion.
  • Expert knowledge of Adobe Substance tools like Painter and Designer.
  • Knowledge of physically based rendering (PBR).
  • Experience with Unreal Engine 4 or newer
  • Self-motivated and proactive with a strong work ethic.
  • A creative, empathetic, and collaborative approach to teamwork.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Senior VFX Artist at Larian Studios

You will create VFX for gameplay abilities (spells), creatures, custom scripted events, and environmental decoration using particle effects, models, and custom shaders. You'll also develop the look and feel of VFX classes, collaborate with other departments on the development of game features, and experience creating custom shaders using node-based tools or scripting.

Requirements:

  • Strong portfolio showing complex real-time VFX with a preference for "Magical VFX", demonstrating a solid understanding of color, composition, and timing. The portfolio should include a variety of styles and types of VFX.
  • At least one shipped game on PC/Console, preferably more than just one.
  • Advanced knowledge of any DCC package (e.g. Maya, Blender, Houdini).
  • Must be willing to work onsite in the Studio
  • A professional level of written and spoken English

Environment Artist at CAPCOM

You will be involved in all aspects of game production, including background design and 3D CG background model production. You will be responsible for working with planners and programmers to create backgrounds in line with the game design, instructing members on background creation, quality control, building a world view that includes gameplay and visualizing it.

Required Conditions:

  • Over 3 years of experience in game or film background production using DCC tools such as Maya
  • Over 3 years of experience in the game or film industry

Welcome Conditions:

  • Experience in managing schedules and quality, and negotiations with outsourced companies
  • Experience as a project leader, or a track record that suggests such qualifications
  • Ability to handle a variety of projects
  • Flexible thinking
  • Highly motivated for high-end graphics
  • Want to create and distribute new content to the world
  • Experience in game level design (map, stage design)
