The Character Art team is looking for a highly technical and artistic Senior Character Artist to join our team in creating the next generation of award-winning storytelling! We are looking for an artist who can help create characters, creatures and develop pipelines that help streamline and push boundaries to create compelling characters that fit seamlessly within the narrative-driven worlds we build. By working alongside other departments and disciplines to inform, inspire, collaborate, and develop artistic solutions to technical obstacles, you’ll help ensure our character pipeline is at the forefront of AAA development.
Requirements:
- Highly skilled at working with and defining standards for PBR materials, topology, and in-game character pipelines
- Experience developing shaders with technical artists and programmers
- Intermediate knowledge of Python scripting, not required, but a plus
- Highly skilled at sculpting, modeling, texturing, shading characters and assets for games
- High-level knowledge of hair curve and card creation for next-gen games
- Keen eye to form, lighting, colors, and composition
- Very strong portfolio showing high-quality characters

Senior Technical Artist at 2K
You will work closely with the team to refine workflows and content authoring processes, while also mentoring and teaching others on tool usage, technical workflows, and best practices. In addition, you’ll support the team with technical guidance around modern lighting models such as PBR and help ensure real-time performance across a broad range of games. As part of your responsibilities, you will implement and set up assets in the game engine, and assist in supporting tools and pipelines in DCC applications such as Maya, Substance 3D, Photoshop, and Unreal. Furthermore, you’ll be expected to create and maintain shaders and materials of various complexities, styles, and levels of detail, as well as produce written or video documentation to aid in information sharing.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications:
- Experience working with a game engine. (e.g., Unreal, Unity, or AAA proprietary game engines)
- Good understanding of how 3D art assets are created in a professional environment.
- Good understanding of art principles and how they can be applied to video games.
- Experience with driving positive and effective collaborative processes in a team environment.

Skills:
- Advanced understanding of Maya (or Max), Substance 3D Painter, ZBrush, Marvelous Designer, or equivalent, and Photoshop.
