A Cute UE5-Powered Virtual Puppet Controlled With Vive Controllers

The author also utilized Maya and Yeti to model and groom the puppet.

Have a look at this adorable virtual puppet created by Developer and Animator Peter Monga using Unreal Engine 5. Modeled and groomed in Maya and Yeti, the character boasts a complex Control Rig driven by a special blueprint, which allows the creator to control the puppet using Vive controllers for the head and hands and Vive trackers for the body. Additionally, the author utilized Megascans, Twinmotion's packs, and SpeedTree-made trees to design the background environment.

According to Peter, the animation itself was recorded in Take Recorder, rendered with Movie Render Queue, and runs at around 40-50 FPS on an RTX 3090 GPU.

The author has also shared an informative tutorial that explains how you can use to set up a similar project in Unreal Engine 5:
