A Developer is Recreating Portal in Unreal Engine

Soon, you will be able to re-experience a beloved Portal game thanks to Game Developer DeDelner.

A developer known as DeDelner has added a new mechanic to the upcoming recreation of Valve's Portal in Unreal Engine. This time, the developer has managed to create a seamless setup that allows the game's cubes to teleport. The artist commented that an Opacity Mask is used for the white walls to "make a hole in the wall". Behind these walls, there is a 3D box that renders the render target texture, but with reverse culling. "This avoids clipping for the player camera and for other actors as well. This allows seamless teleportation and consistent lighting", added DeDelner.
