A Fun Chess-Inspired Roguelike Being Developed by Benjamin Soule

The game is being created for Ludum Dare Game Jam.

French Game Developer Benjamin Soule has demonstrated a cool roguelike game prototype being created for LD Game Jam, an online event that challenges game devs to create a game in just a weekend. The game that Soule is developing reimagines Chess, instead of rooks, bishops, and pawns, the king is given a shotgun and some shells to defend himself on his own. Other than that detail, classic Chess rules still apply.

Right now, the developer is trying to implement other Chess mechanics, e.g. pawn promotion, to the roguelike. According to Soule, the final and playable version of the game will be unveiled by the end of LD Jam.
