A Look at Blender's Upcoming Hair-Creation Tools

Blender Studio's Andy Goralczyk presented a new hair system for the upcoming Blender 3.3.

Blender Studio has posted a sneak peek at a new hair grooming system, which is going to be a part of the upcoming Blender 3.3 release. In this sneak peek, Blender Studio's Art Director Andy Goralczyk spoke in detail about the new hair system that uses high-performance Curves objects and combines the flexibility of Geometry Nodes with powerful destructive tools for hair grooming.

According to Andy, with this new system, users will be able to paint guide hairs onto the surface of a character sculpt, using separate brushes to comb them, adjust their density, and customize individual hairs. The system is said to be able to support at least 120,000 hair strands edited at the same time.
