A New Accessory Allows Launching Game Boy Cartridges on Steam Deck

Check out this nice new gadget from Epilogue.

Players can now reexplore their old Game Boy collections on Steam Deck using a new accessory. Called the GB Operator, the new device supports original Nintendo cartridges, plus Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance games.

Crafted by Epilogue, the accessory was originally meant as a bridge between the original Game Boy and Windows PC. The announcement tweet also shows a look at Mario Kart Super Circuit working on the device.

The GB Operator is powered by an accompanying app, and Epilogue noted it works “impeccably” with SteamOS. The accessory has an internal emulator that allows users to update and save files.

The author was asked about the possibility of a SNES alternative – it appears there’s a prototype in the works. Would you like to test the device? Some might the accessory limits Steam Deck's mobility a bit but it's still a nice way to revisit your favorite games from the past.
