The upcoming film is being developed by Netflix and Take-Two Interactive.
Netflix has announced that it had collaborated with Take-Two Interactive and 2K Games, a subsidiary of Take-Two, to produce a film adaptation of the renowned video game franchise Bioshock, with Vertigo Entertainment and Take-Two serving as producers. Unfortunately, as of right now, there is no information regarding the upcoming movie's writers and directors, but according to The Hollywood Reporter, the partnership deal has been in the works for almost a year.
It is also not known as to what part is being adapted. The upcoming movie might be set in a crumbling underwater city Rapture, or in the airborne city of Columbia, or somewhere else entirely. It is likely that more details will follow in the near future.
"Netflix is among the best and most forward-thinking storytellers in all of entertainment today," says Take-Two's CEO Strauss Zelnick. "We are thrilled that they share our vision and commitment to the BioShock franchise, which is beloved by millions of fans around the world. 2K’s Cloud Chamber studio is deep in active development on the next iteration of the series, and coupled with our partnership with Netflix, we remain highly confident that BioShock will continue to captivate and engage audiences like never before."
