It will be a prequel to the original trilogy and will be called The War of the Rohirrim.
New Line Productions and Warner Bros. Animation are collaborating on a new Lord of the Rings prequel titled The War of the Rohirrim, reports Deadline. The upcoming anime was announced yesterday and will be directed by Kenji Kamiyama, the director behind Ghost in the Shell. The movie will tell us more about a mighty fortress at Helm’s Deep, which was featured in the second film from the original trilogy – Two Towers.
The movie will focus on the character from the LotR's lore Helm Hammerhand, the ninth King of Rohan, and the battles that shaped the Middle-earth into what it is in the original trilogy.
“This will be yet another epic portrayal of J.R.R. Tolkien’s world that has never been told before. We’re honored to partner with much of the incredible talent behind both film trilogies, along with new creative luminaries to tell this story,” said Sam Register, President of Warner Bros. Animation.
