A New Solution for Running Stable Diffusion on Apple Devices

The solution utilizes the MPSGraph framework to bring SD's text-to-image capabilities to iOS and macOS.

AI enthusiast Ollin Boer Bohan has revealed Maple Diffusion, a new solution that allows one to run Stable Diffusion models locally on macOS and iOS devices using the MPSGraph framework. According to the creator, the solution relies on FP16 (NHWC) tensors, operator fusion from MPSGraph, and a truly pitiable degree of swapping models to the device's storage in order to get stable performance.

"Maple Diffusion should be capable of generating a reasonable image in a minute or two on a recent iPhone. I get around 2.3s per step on an iPhone 13 Pro," commented the creator.
