PolySnow has recently been updated offering new modifiers and greater performance.
Have a look at PolyDesign3D's PolySnow, a great 3ds Max plugin that lets users add particle-based snow or snow meshes to 3D scenes for different projects.
The latest update to the tool, called PolySnow Plus, added a new brush-based workflow for sculpting the snow surface, new features for creating fluffy snow and icicles, and more. Basically, there's a bunch of new modifiers for you to play with.
The plugin is also now C++-based which brings an incredible performance. A number of snow-generation operations are said to run over 500x faster.
