A Realistic Abandoned Garage Environment Set Up in Unreal Engine 5

The scene was created by Marcos Silva and was inspired by DRAMA's demo for Unrecord.

3D Artist and Virtual Production Unreal Lead at DNEG London Marcos Silva has unveiled Abandoned Garage, a highly realistic 3D environment inspired by DRAMA's recently-released demo for Unrecord.

Made to practice lighting and environment blackout, the entire environment was set up in just five hours, with almost everything having been created with Unreal Engine 5, except for the final Chromatic Aberration and Color Grading, which were applied in After Effects. Additionally, the author utilized Vive Controllers to simulate the track of the camera and the flashlight. The goal of the project, Marcos commented, was to "create something that looks good in as little time as possible".

If you would like to learn Marcos and his production pipeline, we also recommend checking out our recent interview with the artist, in which he shared a comprehensive breakdown of the Living Room project, outlining the initial composition plan, detailing the modeling and texturing workflows, and offering insight into the decision to utilize Unreal Engine 5.1 for the project.
