Anatomy For Sculptors has released a series of images that show how to create realistic-looking digital human arms.
Anatomy For Sculptors, an open-source platform for Sculptors, Illustrators, and 3D Artists, known primarily for writing and publishing Anatomy for Sculptors and Anatomy of Facial Expression books, has released a series of images that demonstrate how to set up supination, semipronation, and forced pronation of the human arm. The short guide is designed to help Character Artists to learn how to set up arms, something many digital artists struggle with.
"The pictures show supination, semipronation, and forced pronation of the arm. During the latter, the elbow rotates outwards, indicating movement in the shoulder, where the deltoid muscle gets worked. Marked with the dots are the deltoid tuberosity, olecranon, and distal head of the ulna – the bony landmarks that help you follow the muscle attachments as the arm gets pronated," reads the description.
