A Volumetric Ocean System Set Up in Unity

The system was developed by Mike Bushell for an upcoming game.

Solo Game Developer Mike Bushell has recently shared a work-in-progress demo showcasing a stunning volumetric ocean system set up in Unity. Developed for Mike's upcoming survival/discovery game, the system enables the developer to create highly-realistic ocean simulations, complete with waves, whitewater, and physically-correct lighting that gets darker the deeper the player character goes. According to the developer, the demo runs at around 50-60 FPS on a 2019 MacBook Pro with AMD Radeon RX 5500M.
