Activision Claims Microsoft Hasn't Discussed Kotick's Future Role at the Company

The company updated the SEC filing saying that Microsoft has not yet had discussions with Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick about his future role within the company.

Activision Blizzard has claimed that its CEO Bobby Kotick and Microsoft have not yet discussed whether Kotick will leave his post after the acquisition deal is closed. As spotted by Axios' Stephen Totilo, on Friday Activision filed an amendment to the Proxy Statement regarding the merger.

"No discussions or negotiations regarding post-closing employment arrangements with Microsoft occurred between Microsoft and Mr. Kotick prior to the approval and execution of the merger agreement and the transactions contemplated thereby, or have occurred subsequent to such approval and execution, through the date hereof," reads the filing.

The updated filing also mentioned an SEC inquiry and a Department of Justice subpoena Activision has received. Both regulators are currently investigating alleged insider trading by Kotick's associates shortly before the company announced it was being acquired by Microsoft.

Activision Blizzard has been at the center of the fallout of a lawsuit since last year for persistent toxic and sexually harassing behavior in the workplace. According to reports, Kotick had known about the situation for years and did not do enough to change it. Ever since multiple calls from shareholders as well as the company's employees emerged requesting Kotick to step down from his role.
