"Creative freedom is coming."
Earlier this month, Serif, the company behind the Affinity suite of professional graphic design, photo editing, and desktop publishing software, updated its website by removing purchase links and other related sections. Right now, the homepage only displays a mysterious message: "Creative freedom is coming," with the date October 30 shown beneath it.
Users of Affinity tools have been speculating about what this might mean, linking it to Canva's acquisition of Serif in 2024, and discussing possible licensing changes or the introduction of AI features.
The desktop versions of Affinity products are no longer available, however, the iPad editions have been made free:

Since rebranding seems to be on the horizon, it's reasonable to expect the release of version 3 of the suite. Serif is confident that the community will be pleased with the upcoming reveal, so we'll have to wait until October 30 to find out.
