Alan Wake 2 Is Remedy's "Biggest Project Yet", Sam Lake Says

Remedy's Creative Director has shared more details about the upcoming survival-horror game.

Remedy Entertainment's Creative Director Sam Lake has recently shared a short interview with GamesRadar+, providing more behind-the-scenes details regarding Alan Wake 2, the studio's long-awaited upcoming sequel to the 2010 Alan Wake announced back in December 2021 and set to release in 2023 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X.

In the interview, Lake commented on the studio's attitude toward the franchise in general and to Alan Wake – the character – in particular, saying that Remedy had always planned to revisit the series and its characters, even while developing other games, and tell more stories about them, noting that after publishing Control, "everything finally clicked into place".

Lake also commented on how Alan Wake 2 was designed, telling that the studio's goal was to make a welcoming experience that would be enjoyable to both long-time fans of the Alan Wake Universe and to players new to Remedy's games.

Additionally, Lake provided some details regarding the scope of the game, noting that the upcoming Alan Wake 2 is Remedy's biggest and most ambitious project yet.

"You keep the dream alive when you keep actively dreaming it, and make a constant effort to keep it fresh and exciting," Lake said in the interview. "If anything, through these years, the dream of Alan Wake 2 has grown more ambitious and more unique. A game project like this is a very complex undertaking – it's our biggest project yet – and a lot of different things need to come together. Not only the concept itself but the timing and the right partners as well."
