The writer and creative director of the upcoming Alan Wake sequel, Sam Lake, has shared a small update on the game.
Remedy Entertainment's Sam Lake took to Twitter to share a small update on Alan Wake 2, the sequel to the 2010 psychological thriller Alan Wake.
The writer and creative director of the game shared that he and the studio's principal writer Clay Murphy have written "a ton of pages" for the upcoming sequel emphasizing that it is significantly more than they have written for any other game in the past. "This story is a monster," Lake said.
Lake also revealed that he and Murphy are taking a short vacation, but that they will continue to write the script after that. He also said that Remedy is currently doing shoots with actors – apparently, the studio is working on motion capture.
Earlier this year, the studio revealed that the long-awaited sequel entered the full production stage. "A lot of work remains, but the game is starting to take a more complete form in many areas," Remedy's CEO Tero Virtala said at the time.
The game is schedule to release in 2023. It will be available for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via the Epic Games Store.
The studio previously planned to showcase the game this summer, although, in May, the developers shared that they won't be showing any new gameplay in the near future as they want to polish the game and make sure they are creating "the best, and first, survival horror game for Remedy."
