Alienware Launches Their First AMD-Based Laptop in Over 10 Years

The new Alienware m15 Ryzen Edition R5 promises to be a prominent player amongst gaming PCs.

The year was 2007. Alienware released their Alienware Aurora mALX gaming laptop that was, to put it mildly, not well received. Now, 14 years after, it seems that the company finally decided to try it again with AMD-based laptops and announced its new model – Alienware m15 Ryzen Edition R5. With much classier design and modern technologies implemented, the new model might become a new top-of-the-line laptop for gamers to use.

It is equipped with AMD's latest tech: Ryzen 5000H series CPUs and Nvidia GeForce RTX 30-series GPUs. It is also equipped with a new feature called Dark Core that "darkens the interior shade of the laptop to minimize distractions and keep your head in the game." The design itself might seem a bit bulky by 2021 standards, but given the fact that it is a gaming laptop, it is highly doubtful that the size will be a problem for the target audience.

The new m15 will also have an option for either 15.6-inch 1440p/240Hz or 1080p/360Hz panels — either way, you're getting a speedy screen for gaming. If you're on a budget or opting for better battery life, there's a third option of a 1080p 165Hz display.

The Ryzen Edition R5 will be available with an optional ultra-low-profile mechanical keyboard with Cherry MX switches that Alienware co-developed with Cherry. As with past Alienware laptops, the R5 will offer RGB lighting settings, whatever keyboard you pick.

With all the advantages of the upcoming laptop, it is fair to say that it will be a strong competitor among gaming PCs.

The Alienware m15 Ryzen Edition R5 will be available in the US on April 20, with configurations starting at $1,793. Don't forget to join our new Telegram channel, our Discord, follow us onInstagram and Twitter, where we are sharing breakdowns, the latest news, awesome artworks, and more.
