An independent Romanian game development and studio services agency Amber announced it has established a new office in Warsaw, Poland. The new studio will allow the company to expand its game portfolio and focus specifically on AA and AAA games.
Warsaw's office will be the eighths studio within Amber joining the company's locations in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Bucharest, Botoșani, Guadalajara, Montreal, and Kyiv.
"For us, Poland has always been a point of reference in terms of how a Central and Eastern European country has managed to create a favorable climate for local game developers. Amber continues its rapid internationally growth and Warsaw is the perfect place where, along with senior specialists, we can contribute growing this tremendous creative community, while delivering some of the best and innovative games in the industry," said Mihai Pohontu, chairman of Amber.
Cinderella Free Fall
The new studio will be led by Greg Ciach who previously served as CEO of indie developer PolyAmorous, business development director at Platige Image, and Narrative Designer at Tequila Games.
Commenting on the news, Ciach said: "I’m certain we can bring a breath of fresh air to the Polish AA/AAA game dev scene as we set out to take advantage of the latest industry trends and become a major player while doing so."
Apart from the new office announcement, Amber revealed that in 2021, it generated $30.5 million which reflects a 56% growth compared to the previous year. The company said that it wants to capitalize on this growth and expand its team along with its game genre offerings and services.
