The more Instagram followers the project had – the more citizens there were in the city.
Battery Tea, an Artist specializing in designing digital worlds, has recently shared an impressive timelapse video and provided a massive update on Statville, a 3D project/social experiment many of you may already be familiar with.
For those not in the know, the project kicked off a year ago with the idea of gradually building a digital city in Blender, dependent on the number of followers Statville garnered on Instagram. The project's growth was directly linked to its follower count – the more followers, the more citizens.
As expected, the initial progress was relatively slow, with Battery Tea adding just a few houses each day. However, as time passed, Statville gained more and more attention, compelling the artist to construct residential buildings and entire neighborhoods in single sittings to accommodate the influx of thousands of newcomers. A year after its inception, Statville has transformed into a substantial metropolis, boasting an impressive population of around 813,000 citizens.
Recently, Battery Tea shared the results of the experiment, showcasing a mesmerizing timelapse of Statville's creation and offering a detailed breakdown of the project. In this breakdown, the artist explained the project's concept, outlined its history, demonstrated the gradual addition of new houses and buildings, discussed the 3D workflow in Blender, and much more. You can watch the full breakdown attached below or by visiting Battery Tea's YouTube channel.
