Lusion Labs, a multidisciplinary production studio that focuses on real-time interactive experiences with astonishing visuals, has officially presented AKARI, a jaw-dropping experiment with 2D light tracing.
Based on a method described by Engineer Sam Bigos in the 2020 blog post, "2DGI #1 - Global Illumination in Godot", the setup uses the jump-flooding algorithm to generate the distance field for 2D ray marching. The experiment comes with several demos, including a light-traced version of Pong, which you can access from the convenience of your browser.
