One thing that got us hooked while playing immersive horror games was the intense feeling that seemed to blur the lines between the game and reality. While this upcoming indie game by Allan Hedlund, Eyes Never Wake, literally does remove the line directly, as the monster from the game watches you through your webcam.
Yes, it features not only the microphone interaction that makes you stay quiet so as not to be found by the terrific AI-driven entity but also physically duck beneath your real-world desk to hide from it. It sounds like you're going to play hide-and-seek in a dark, mysterious, out-of-bounds area where intense stealth and chase sequences occur. There are also some hidden areas within it which can only be unlocked by scanning your face. "Listen closely, stay quiet, and be ready to hide your face at all costs."
The announcement trailer for Eyes Never Wake has been a sensation. While many are excited about this cool concept, some have expressed concerns about potential privacy invasions. However, the creator has reassured everyone that there is no need to worry about it. He said, "the game simply uses OpenCV and OpenCV for Unity for face recognition which uses pre-trained models. Everything runs locally - nothing gets sent to any server or anything like that. And you can always turn the mechanic off at any time."
If you think that covering the camera would help you hide perfectly, then too bad, that won't work cause if you do, the character won't be able to move, and you can imagine the consequence. Besides, the developer said that game remains playable for those who do not have a webcam and don't plan to get it.
