An Upcoming Retro-Style Survival Horror with Live-Action Cutscenes

Demo of Tenebris Somnia is available on Steam right now.

Publisher New Blood Interactive just announced Tenebris Somnia, an award-winning pixelated survival horror game with live-action cutscenes.

While solving mysterious puzzles and fighting with horrific creatures, you might trigger cinematics at certain points and see “sequences with a completely different aesthetic, made in live action with real actors and created by a professional and award winning film crew.”

Developed by Andrés Borghi and Argentina-based Saibot Studios, the game also has Mason Smith, aka Airdorf Games, the developer behind overwhelmingly positive horror series FAITH, as the executive director.

Below, you can find two more clips showcasing the vibes of the game, as well as how the horrific creature in the pixelated 2D game world appears in the real 3D world the next moment, which blurs the lines between horrors existed in both game and reality:

Tenebris Somnia has a release window set to late 2025, and a demo is available to try on Steam. While waiting for the final game to launch, you might also be interested in The Black Heart, Andrés Borghi’s 2D fighting game “in the tradition of Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat.”
