The atmospheric Metroidvania is confirmed to be the first project published by videogamedunkey's new publishing company BIGMODE.
Animal Well, an upcoming platform video game from indie developer Shared Memory, is confirmed to be the first game published by BIGMODE, a new publishing company founded by a popular YouTuber known as videogamedunkey.
The company was launched in September 2022 with the aim to support indie games "made with substance, quality, creativity, and fun in mind." The first of such projects will be Animal Well, an atmospheric Metroidvania where players have to explore a dense, interconnected labyrinth unraveling its secrets.
The game is being created by solo game developer Billy Basso, aka Shared Memory, using a custom engine/renderer built specifically for pixel art on modern hardware. It is currently planned to release for PC and PlayStation 5.
Animal Well is described as a pixelated animal adventure that features beautiful and unsettling creatures and dynamic items which have multiple uses letting players manipulate their environment. Apart from the main game, Animal Well also offers a number of hidden puzzles that, as the developer notes, players will be discovering for years.
The project does not have a release date yet. To learn more about the game and wishlist it, visit its official page here.
