Basefount has released Animcraft 2, a collaborative animation library and toolkit that can make and share animation between characters and software.

Versions 2.0 and 2.1 introduce nonlinear editing tools to make new animations from motion clips and a new facial rigging animation system. There is also a facial motion capture app for iOS devices, which can carry on the capture within Maya. The updates also introduce Dragon Breath Ribbon – a non-physical, algorithm-based simulation tool that can be used to add secondary animation to characters' clothing and accessories.

Animcraft was created to help users make, store, and share animation, it also has a character and motion library and can transfer animation between digital content creation (DCC) applications and game engines, such as Maya, 3ds Max, Unity, and Unreal Engine.

The new version of the software includes a new nonlinear motion editor which helps users make animation by organizing the motion clips from the library. For Maya and 3ds Max users, it now provides a toolset that allows them to rig a face model from scratch, similar to Advanced Skeleton for Maya or BonyFace for 3ds Max. Facial animations can now be shared between different face rigs made in Animcraft without retargeting, they can also be shared between DCC software and game engines.

In addition, Basefount released a free motion capture app for iPhones and iPads which enables real-time facial motion capture and transfers it to a character in Maya.

New Dragon Breath Ribbon has also been introduced in the updates. This simulation-based tool allows users to add automatic secondary motion for trailing clothing and accessories. Inertia, collision avoidance, wind, and gravity are supported in the tool. Dragon Breath Ribbon is available for Maya and 3ds Max users.

Animcraft is available for $199 a year for the node-locked version and $259 a year for a floating license. There is also an educational discount which can be purchased for $99 a year.
