Another Look at Simulon, an App For Adding 3D Models to Real-Life Footage

Divesh Naidoo showcased the tool's capabilities once again by seamlessly integrating Sabrina Garcia's Game Boy model into a video.

Divesh Naidoo, a well-known developer and AR/VR enthusiast, continues to showcase the capabilities of Simulon, an impressive application that allows one to add 3D models to videos, by unveiling one more outstanding demo that looks like pure magic.

For those unaware, Simulon has been in development for over 3.5 years, with the goal being to make cinematic-quality VFX accessible to creators from diverse backgrounds. Previously, we already highlighted some of Naidoo's fantastic experiments with the app when he added a detailed human scan from 3D Scan Store and a realistic-looking Mosquito in Amber 3D model to real-life footage.

For the new project, the creator collaborated with Sabrina Garcia, a talented 3D Artist whose works were featured countless times here on 80 Level, seamlessly integrating her Blender-made 3D recreation of Nintendo's original Game Boy into a video and setting up reflections for the model's plastic material. " It’s so much fun bringing assets like this into the real world with Simulon. My favorite part is seeing the Duracell batteries through the translucent case," commented the creator.

Here are some of the earlier demos for Simulon shared by the team:

Later today our interview with Divesh Naidoo is going live, so stay tuned. In the meantime, we highly recommend checking out Simulon's Twitter page to check out more awesome experiments.
