Yesterday, Apple revealed it will host the annual Worldwide Developers Conference from June 10 through June 14, 2024. It will take place in the form of an online event with a section of a limited in-person experience on June 10 at Apple Park, where the developers will have an opportunity to meet with Apple team members and take part in some activities.

The WWDC24 is free for all developers and is expected to spotlight the latest software updates and new hardware announcements. As part of Apple's ongoing commitment to helping developers elevate their apps and games, the event will also provide them with "unique access to Apple experts, as well as insight into new tools, frameworks, and features."

"We're so excited to connect with developers from around the world for an extraordinary week of technology and community at WWDC24. WWDC is all about sharing new ideas and providing our amazing developers with innovative tools and resources to help them make something even more wonderful.", commented Susan Prescott, Apple's vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations.

As usual, among the expected announcements at WWDC24 are new iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS 15. However, this year, there are some hints that the company might focus on something AI-related.

Obviously, generative AI has been around for some time now, but lately, Apple seems to be interested in it in particular, for example, the newly released M3 MacBook Air is being advertised as the "world's best consumer laptop for AI":

"MacBook Air can also run optimized AI models, including large language models (LLMs) and diffusion models for image generation locally with great performance. In addition to on-device performance, MacBook Air supports cloud-based solutions, enabling users to run powerful productivity and creative apps that tap into the power of AI, such as Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365, Canva, and Adobe Firefly."

Other recent reports have indicated that Apple may cut a deal with Google or OpenAI to supply cloud-based AI features while keeping it strictly on-device. Perhaps, Apple could even open its ecosystem up to AI developers for integration in its devices.

Any additional conference information and details on how to apply to attend WWDC24 will be released through the Apple Developer site.
