Apple Will Terminate All Epic’s Developer Accounts

Apple informed Epic that it will remove Epic’s access to developer accounts and cut Epic off from development tools for Mac and iOS on August 28.

Last week, Epic gave its Fortnite users a choice to do in-game purchases using direct payments. The prices update from Epic was based on removing the additional fees that were included in the prices. So, basically, the prices for players are the same, but there are no additional fees for Google and Apple.

Such an update violated App Store terms. By these terms, Apple gets 30% off each purchase in the store and in the app. Apple replied to it and removed the game from the App Store.

Yesterday, Epic has shared that by August 28, Apple will remove Epic’s access to developers' accounts and cut Epic off from development tools for Mac and iOS. This means that Epic will no longer be available to work and update Unreal Engine and suppler third-party developers who use the game engine constantly.

To prevent possible harm for other business segments, Epic applied motion to motion.
