Arcane Documentary: The Third Episode Released

The new episode of Arcane: Bridging the Rift explores the entire animation workflow at Fortiche Productions.

Riot Games and Fortiche Production have released Killstreaks Meet Keyframes, the third episode of Arcane: Bridging the Rift, a five-part documentary on Arcane set to explore the entire production process behind the show and reveal some interesting facts along the way.

The newly-released episode is dedicated to showing Fortiche's entire animation pipeline, from receiving the script and preparing designs for characters, environments, and props to preparing the final renders, animating the sequences, and writing music for the show.

The Fortiche team spoke extensively about each step of production, discussing modeling, texturing, and rigging workflows, showing how different departments collaborated with one another in real-time during production, explaining how they found their art style, telling about the importance of voice-acted storyboards, and much more.

Speaking of voice acting, Arcane: Bridging the Rift episode three also reveals the story of how the team found English actress Ella Purnell to be the perfect candidate to play the show's Jinx. According to the team, it took around three years to find a voice actor for Jinx as they required someone who would be able to "do both intimate and quiet moments" as well as "really loud moments that Jinx is really known for".

At some point, Riots even wanted to quit looking for the perfect candidate and just get it over with, but then, thanks to the casting team, they managed to find Ella Purnell, who could deliver all that was required and more.

"I felt this really deep connection with her because of empathy and compassion," commented Ella on understanding Jinx's character and motivation. " Yes, she's a terrible person, she's done all these terrible things. But is she a terrible person? I don't know. I started to realize who she's become is just a deeply rooted, very difficult trauma response that she's developed because she's gone through things no one should have to go through."
