It would be a lot like Elden Ring.
Armored Core VI is not an open-world game, although FromSoftware has discussed it. However, according to the director Masaru Yamamura, the idea was rejected so the gameplay would be focused on performance and not exploration, as it was in Elden Ring.
"In the process of developing the sequel, there was also an opinion to make it in a different game style. However, as a result of discussions, it was concluded that it should not be made into a title centered on movement and exploration, such as the Elden Ring or Soul series. In the Armored Core series, depending on the assembly, the movement performance of the character changes and affects the play. Because that is the charm of the series," he said in an interview earlier this year.
The game is designed in a way that makes you think about the speed of movement and different combinations of your mecha's parts. Because of this, the gameplay and the ability to explore the map didn't match.
"However, the charm of Armored Core that you can go even without a road is great. You will be able to see the style of dynamically moving a three-dimensional and high-level map as it is. I hope you enjoy these parts. I think you will be able to feel a different pleasure from exploring every nook and cranny of the carefully crafted map as you move."
Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon will be released on August 25 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
