Armored Core VI Fires of Rubicon Gets Story Trailer

"I'll give you a reason to exist."

It's time for some mecha action: FromSoftware and Bandai Namco released a story trailer for Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon.

There, you will get a glimpse of the dark past of C4-621 – the augmented human protagonist. After losing a fight, he has to go through some creepy-looking procedures, and Handler Walter promises to give him a reason to exist. My favorite part of the trailer was the music – watch it again just to listen to this beautiful piece.

Armored Core VI is following 2013's Verdict Day but despite the number six in the title, it is a standalone game, more like a reboot.

It takes you to a distant planet, Rubicon 3, where a new energy source Coral exists. It can increase technological capabilities and so is extremely valuable. You play as C4-621, a pilot codenamed Raven, working for Walter, taking up missions, and fighting those who want to take control of Coral.

Earlier, the game's director Masaru Yamamura revealed that Armored Core VI could have an open world, but the idea was rejected.

Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon is launching on August 25 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox, and PC.
