There's also a new Pro edition with offline and batching functionality, available at the original price point.
Unity Technologies announced they decided to decrease the price of ArtEngine, the team's AI-based material-processing software, by 80%, meaning that it now costs $228/year or $19/month (versus $1,140/year previously).
As for the new version, the update introduces a live link to the Unity Editor, direct export of materials as Unity asset packages, plus an experimental new project template system. The toolkit is also available to users of other game engines, but ArtEngine is deeply integrated with Unity which makes it a perfect match.
Among other new features, users get access to asset packages, a way to share your materials with other artists, or between different Unity projects. "The export functionality is available in ArtEngine’s output and batch output nodes. To use it, select Unity Package as the export type," noted the team.
Developers can also use batch processing in ArtEngine Pro to quickly convert an entire library of materials into asset packages in Unity "in a matter of minutes".
The latest version comes with built-in templates to structure workflows then save your approach as a template to reuse or share with others.
