Ehsan Bayat believes that eyes often carry more weight in facial animation than the mouth or cheeks.
Senior Animator Ehsan Bayat knows how to make a character speak without words. Sometimes, just eyes are enough to show a plethora of emotions, and you can see it in this Arcane-style animation from Aimer, a remake of the artist's 2020 project.
"In my experience, the eyes often carry more weight in facial animation than the mouth or cheeks," Bayat said, and it's clear in the little details he puts in them: they tremble, twitch, and move to make the scene more emotional, and it truly works.
Bayat can also help you with your animations with his Twosify tool for Maya, which allows you to convert animation to stepped mode non-destructively.
