Artist Presents a Realistic 3D Windowsill Scene Inspired by Rayan Zomorodi's Project
Much like the original, the pastiche was made using Blender.
In case you missed the news, back in December, 3D Artist and Cinematographer Rayan Zomorodi, also known as geng94, blew up on Reddit by showcasing an incredible 3D windowsill scene that looked so photorealistic – it was briefly taken down by the moderators of r/Blender. Recently, another Reddit user by the alias Critical-Raise-3348 paid tribute to Rayan's masterpiece, showcasing a similar-looking CG environment that looks every bit as lifelike as the original.
Much like the original, the pastiche depicts a windowsill cluttered with various items like a pencil case, a cup, a sheet of paper, and numerous pencils. The creator mentioned that the camera movement is real, while everything else was set up by hand in Blender. Additionally, the creator admitted to rendering the scene with low samples due to the window slowing down the rendering speed, leading to a five-hour rendering process.
An obligatory wireframe shot to prove that it is indeed a 3D render:
Rayan Zomorodi himself has also joined the party, providing some valuable feedback on the scene's texturing and lighting and explaining what he would have done differently:
