Have a look at one of the opportunities to showcase your game project – Game Maker's Sketchbook, a 5th annual event that showcases artworks in and around games, organized by the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences, creative production company iam8bit, and communications firm fortyseven.
Artists and developers are invited to submit their works crafted in the fields of character, environment art, and more. The entries close on March 26. The artwork is required to correspond with a video game title published publicly on or after January 1, 2025. The selected works will be showcased at the 2026 Summer Game Fest Play Days in Los Angeles this June.
There are six categories for the works:
- Storyboard: illustrations, diagrams, and/or drawn sequences used to visualize a cutscene, narrative, or gameplay scene.
- Environment Art: 3D and 2D art that functions as the basis for constructing a physical game world, comprising landscapes, architecture, planets, vessels, and other set pieces.
- Character Art: explorations, 2D compositions, and/or 3D modeling of any elements of character design.
- Iconography: graphic design and iconographic elements crafted to immerse the player in the game world's identity
- Curiosities: artwork that doesn't fit into other categories, such as props, schematics, or technical diagrams
- Impact: an image that captures the game's visual language, such as key art or concept art.
