Ubisoft initially stated that the company had no plans to add in-game achievement tracking but then, removed the forum post.
In late November, Ubisoft confirmed that its games were returning to Steam – the first title that became available on the platform was Assassin's Creed Valhalla which launched on Valve's PC storefront on December 6.
However, it turned out that not all the features fans expected from Valhalla came along with the game's long-awaited comeback to Steam. Shortly after the title's release on the platform, fans started complaining that the Steam version is missing in-game achievement tracking.
Due to the lack of a progress-tracking feature, Valhalla's rating on Steam got listed as "Mixed" with 62% of reviews being positive.
Although players noticed the omission of achievements as soon as the title was relisted on Steam, it was only last week that Ubisoft addressed this issue. In a comment to a message on a Steam forum for the game, the company's representative stated that the developers currently have no plans to add achievements to the Steam version of the game adding that players can earn rewards in Ubisoft Connect.
"Just to officially confirm. As it stands, Steam achievements will not be available in Assassin's Creed: Valhalla. Any achievements earned in-game will run through Ubisoft Connect," the message read. "There are no current plans to implement this in future."
However, after the message drew the attention of the media, these comments were removed from the public post. Now, the message states that the Ubisoft support team has forwarded players' requests to add Steam achievements to Valhalla to the developers as well as Steam teams to "consider and see if this is doable."
It is unclear whether the progress-tracking feature will appear in Valhalla. According to the Ubisoft support team, it will not share any updates on the topic until it has "further communication" from the Valhalla and Steam teams.
