Atari Announces A New Edition Of Its Legendary Old-School Console
Atari 2600+ launches in November offering players to revisit classics.
To prepare the console for 2023, Atari upgraded the device's video output adding widescreen support and an HDMI cable. The bundle, costing $130 includes just one joystick – Atari plans to sell additional joysticks for $25.
The team shared they will also ship Atari 2600 paddle controllers with a four-game bundle for $40, plus two separate games (Berzerk Enhanced Edition and Mr. Run and Jump) for $30 each.
Currently, all the offers are only available to ship to the United States, but Atari promised to present an international retailer list. To prepare users, the company provided a game compatibility list sharing which games will run on the new console.
You can find the official website here. Back in March, Atari announced it was purchasing the Doom 64 developer Nightdive Studios. Atari got full ownership of the Nightdive's game catalog as well as the studio's proprietary KEX Engine, which allows retro games to be played on modern devices. Learn more here.
