"That was not supposed to happen!" commented Ghost Ship's CEO.
On February 14, Steam saw Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor, an auto-shooter spin-off to the original mining game. Surprisingly, Survivor became so popular that its all-time concurrent players number left behind that of the first one. At the moment of writing, the auto-shooter's peak is 56,943, while 2020's Deep Rock Galactic managed to attract 46,687 people at the same time.
"That was not supposed to happen!" exclaimed the CEO of Ghost Ship, Søren Lundgaard, jokingly. Naturally, it's not bad news for the original: the popularity of the new title will surely bring some fresh blood to the roots.
Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor is a single-player game, unlike the previous title. Like in Vampire Survivors, you fight hordes of aliens and upgrade your weapons and abilities to do so effectively. Meanwhile, you also need to mine resources, digging deeper and deeper into the planet.

The game was released last week and now has Very Positive reviews with 83% approval. Evidently, it will be entertaining not only for Deep Rock Galactic fans but also for anyone willing to do some mining while warding off enemies.
