Autodesk Launched Arnold 7.1.4

The new version introduces Apple native support and USD enhancements.

Autodesk has released Arnold 7.1.4. The new version of the production renderer offers native Apple support and USD improvements.

The software now natively supports Apple M-series processors, M1 and M2. This update gives speeds up rendering up to 1.45x compared to running with Rosetta 2 in DCCs that support Apple native CPUs, according to the company.

The USD enhancements introduced in this update include support for MaterialX, Alembic references and payloads, and Imagers.

As for other changes, you can now automatically generate TX textures from source textures, and the Standard Hair shader’s melanin_redness parameter now displays a correct-looking red tint in ACEScg color space.

Arnold 7.1.4 is available for Windows 10+, Linux RHEL/CentOS 7+, and macOS 10.13+ for $50/month or $380/year.
